Eli’s Triumphant Day

Wednesday, January 3 proved to be quite a triumphant day for Mr. Elias Vict.

I spent the morning hours as I normally do, drinking coffee, checking my e-mail accounts, perusing the Celery Club tag and message boards, maybe heading over to some of the other community sites, checking the word of the day at Dictionary.com, sifting through the wrestling news sites and boards and finally reading the news at msnbc.com.

From there I proceeded to City College where I checked my grades from the Fall semester: English Literature-A, American Literature-A, Work Experience-A, Math 96-W. I didn’t find the “W” as troubling as one might think. The course was “self paced” and I had slaved away in the Math Lab all semester with little or no positive results to show for. Am I the only one who finds it strange that the only difference between the words “Math Lab,” and “Meth Lab,” is one vowel?

My GPA for the semester was a 4.0 but my overall GPA is still a 3.3 due to the numerous D’s and F’s I earned back in 1992 at Pensacola Junior College when I was treating undergraduate studies like they were the thirteenth grade. I was one of those kids who would come to class late and high. What was once the epitome of cool in high school was suddenly the most uncool thing in the world in college. But that was then and this is now.

After I viewed my grades, I checked the results of an assessment test I had taken in December in hopes of testing out of the dreaded Math 96. Sure as shit, I had passed the test and a five credit, five hour a week course that I had little understanding of and carried with it about $130.00 in book fees was nothing more than an after thought. Triumphant indeed. Now it is on to Statistics and SDSU in the Fall with Sassmunch.

From there, I returned some overdue library books and proceeded to the DMV and passed the excruciatingly difficult California State drivers license exam. Am I the only one who has noticed the excessive amount of hotties at the DMV? I suppose if you cram that many people into the same room, some of them are bound to be sexy girls and women in tight and flesh baring clothing. I digress. Eli is now on the road again after a three and a half year layoff due to the high insurance rates of people who have had DUI’s (Don’t give me a hard time, The President has one.)

So last night, to celebrate, I went out and ate some heavy as shit Pork Cutlet curry at the Sushi Deli with a big Sapporo. I could barely walk when I left outta there but still proceeded to The Turf Club for an after dinner drink…or maybe FOUR giant Manhattans. Today I am hungover and virtually useless. Oh well, three steps forward and one step back…
