Adobe Acrobat: FIRED!

Ok, I’m going to keep this rant short but sweet:
I hate PDF’s on the web!
Jakob Neilsen knows it, this guy knows it, and now, so do I.
Although the PDF is a great file format, useful for any read-only printed document, Adobe’s Acrobat reader simply blows.
- Unknowingly clicking on a PDF link means waiting 20 seconds for Acrobat to fire up, if it fires up at all.
- Sometimes, the PDF simply won’t display at all.
- Adobe Acrobat Reader is a 9 meg download! Thats right, 9 megs!
- The plugin requires a reboot! A REBOOT! FOR A GLORIFIED TEXT FILE?
So alas, I have decided to uninstall the Acrobat reader plugin.

I agree with you 100 percent. I was looking for an eBook reader, and I got the adobe ebook thingie. Now that is a piece of shit WORSE than the regular reader. If it wasn”t for photoshop Adobe would have been banned from the internet a long time ago. Lippers

I took a PDF class over at CS and now I am a MOUSE certified instrucr on how to open up PDF files. Some people had problems with the fact that the computer freezes and requires ALL emails to be opened via Acrobat which involves saving every email to disk prior to opening. I will learn more about he wonderfull world of PDF”s at MacWorld Expo ”02
